Dan Treacy ha vuelto definitivamente para quedarse, como lo demuestra su intensa actividad musical estos últimos años, y en Elefant Records lo celebramos con un nuevo single que es todo un regalo para nuestro sello. Y es que este vinilo de edición limitada podría entenderse como una oda no intencionada al espíritu nerd, como una alabanza imprevista al alma freak, hecho desde la perspectiva de un espíritu librepensador, espontáneo y lleno de rock’n roll como es la cabeza pensante de nuestros adorados TV PERSONALITIES. Así, la titular “People think that we are strange”, es una huidiza llamada a huir de los juicios (y los prejuicios), a dejar a la gente expresarse y sentirse tal y como ellos son, como nuestros protagonistas hacen en este pequeño y juguetón corte de pop psicodélico lleno de encanto, a medio camino entre los MODERN LOVERS de Jonathan Richman y la locura imprevisible de PAVEMENT. La entrega la redondea la cara B, ese “A glimpse of my genius”, una hilarante improvisación que evoca a una VELVET UNDERGROUND ebria de punk-pop, llena de espontaneidad ¡e incluso con guiños a Lilly Allen! Desvelar más detalles supondría robarles el premio. Ahondar en las increíbles letras de este EP, mientras nos dejamos llevar por los riffs trotones y desacomplejados es un ejercicio que cada uno debe desarrollar en casa, en el pub, tirado en la hierba... siempre junto al reproductor de vinilo. We all miss Dan Treacy and TV PERSONALITIES. After all the years of amazing songs and magnificent albums, we have waited almost a decade to hear the unmistakable voice of Dan again. Luckily they have put out two new albums: “My Dark Places” (2006) and “Are we Nearly There Yet?” (2007) which were supposedly the beginning of a new era, after the experience Dan had crossing the desert.

On behalf of Elefant Records, we are proud and excited to put out the world exclusive new single of TV PERSONALITIES “The Good Anarchist.” One truly cries out in jubilation when listening to this song! Only true alchemists of pop can achieve to produce sounds of such sensibility in just a little over two minutes. Tantos años de estupendas canciones y magníficos discos nos tenían muy bien acostumbrados y casi una década sin ellos hizo que perdiéramos la esperanza de volver a escuchar la inconfundible voz de Dan. Pero por suerte se publicaron dos nuevos álbumes; "My Dark Places" (2006) y "Are We Nearly There Yet?" (2007), que suponían el inicio de una nueva etapa, después de la particular travesía por el desierto que experimentó Dan.
Desde Elefant Records estamos orgullosos y entusiasmados de publicar en exclusiva para todo el mundo el nuevo single de los TV PERSONALITIES, que lleva el título de "The Good Anarchist". Escuchando la canción homónima uno realmente tiene ganas de llorar de la emoción. Tanta sensibilidad concentrada en poco más de dos minutos es algo que sólo pueden conseguir los grandes alquimistas del pop. Además esta canción, que nos trae ecos de bandas como la VELVET UNDERGROUND, SHOP ASSISTANTS y CAROUSEL, supone la primera colaboración en disco de la cantautora sueca Johanna Lundström, quien canta, y Dan, que toca la guitarra. Ya en la cara B tenemos el fabuloso tema "She's always been there for me", en el que encontramos a los TV PERSONALITIES clásicos (en este caso básicamente Dan y Ed Ball), aunque con un irresistible toque Northern Soul y un ritmo contagioso que invita a gastar la suela de las Jam Shoes y dejar el polo Ben Sherman empapado de sudor.
